Abstract

2020 Population Census recorded that the population of Pekanbaru Municipality in September 2020 was 983,356 people. Since Indonesia held its first Population Census in 1961, the population has continued to increase. The results of SP2020 compared to SP2010 show an increase in the population of Pekanbaru Municipality as many as 85,589 people or an average of 8,558 people every year.

In the last ten years (2010-2020), the population growth rate of Pekanbaru Municipality was 0.89 percent per year on average. There is a slowdown in the population growth rate of 3.60 percentage points when compared to the Population Growth Rate (LPP) in the 2000-2010 period which was 4.49 percent.
